DIY Taipei Hotel, Airfare & Tour for Php 15,000 #MyTaiwanandOnly

When Taiwan opened up its doors for visa-free entry to Filipinos on November 1, 2017, intrepid Filipino travelers all headed for Taipei. But because it’s a relatively new destination, not everyone knows what Taiwan has to offer. Many have questions like, how much does it cost to stay in a nice Taipei hotel? How do we get around? Where should we go? How much is the MNL-TPE-MNL airfare? So let’s answer those questions one by one. Note: All budget plans below were calculated based on a 3-day 2-night vacation spree. Taipei Hotel – Budget Php 1,500 Per Pax Believe it or not, booking a nice Taipei hotel is not that expensive. There are several three-star hotels near the Taipei Main Station that would cost you less than Php 3,000 a night. If you’re the backpacker type, there’s a more inexpensive option for you, such as the capsule hotels. They charge around Php 1,000 per head per day. Below are some […]

12 Must-See Taipei Attractions #MyTaiwanandOnly

If you’re planning to go to Taiwan, which I strongly suggest that you do while it’s still visa-free for Filipinos, go to these must-see Taipei attractions. I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful country last July and it was one of my best experiences. The country is very tourist friendly. There are tourist buses that would take you directly to points of interest and almost all points of interest have a visitor center. What more can you ask for? Here are some of the places I had the luxury of visiting: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Park Taipei 101 Ximending Night Market Tamsui Longshan Temple Miramar Ferris Wheel Yehliu Geopark Ximen Red House Other Notable Taipei Attractions The other places in my itinerary that we, unfortunately, didn’t have the chance to visit are: National Palace Museum Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf Juming Museum Sky Lantern Police Station Three days are never enough to enjoy all these Taipei attractions and all the other […]

Navigating Taipei Main Station #MyTaiwanandOnly

I read somewhere that the Taipei Main Station was built for confusion. Well, I didn’t believe it until I got there. I admit I haven’t been to a lot of train stations but this one ’s really massive. There are at least seven malls and shopping areas connected to the place, with a few of them underground. Underground malls are nothing short of the tiangge that we have here in the Philippines. They’re great places to buy souvenirs for people back home. We even compared the prices of the items sold at the Taipei Main Station malls to those in Ximen. Taipei Main Station offers theirs at a few bucks lower. You’ll get almost anywhere in Taiwan once you’re at the Taipei Main Station. It’s also your point of entry to Taipei from the Taoyuan Airport. You can also take the THSR train from here, which will bring you to the southern part of Taiwan. If you choose to ride […]

Taipei Travel Adventure: Getting There #MyTaiwanAndOnly

If there’s anything that I can say about Taiwan, it’s a tourist-friendly country. Recently, they have given Filipinos the chance to travel visa-free. We’re not about to pass up on a highly promising Taipei travel adventure so we booked our flights as soon as Cebu Pacific dropped their rates. Going in and out of Taiwan is a breeze. From the airport, which is Terminal 1 for Cebu Pacific passengers, you have the option to take the bus, taxi, or train to get to Taipei. If you’re arriving at the wee hours of the morning, which we did, our choices are limited to bus and taxi because the first of the train is at 6:00 am. We’re first-time travelers to Taiwan so we’re not too confident trekking the streets at night. If you wish to travel at night, there will be taxi drivers offering you a ride at the gate not too far from the arrival area. They can speak a little […]

China is among the few places that people still feel a sense of amazement about. Not traditionally seen as a tourist attraction, there aren’t a lot of people travelers who traveled into this enigmatic land before. Today, however, tours of China are plenty and cheap, thus making it the preferred destination of adventurous travelers. If you tour China, you’ll definitely visit Beijing, the country’s capital city.  You’ll visit the Forbidden City, a very old city built by China’s emperors. You should also see the Great Wall of China, which is a must for all travelers. Another good place to visit is Beijing’s bargain shopping area, which mostly consists of street vendors.
